1. Consecration, Investiture, & Graduation Services for AYLC, AYES Corps, Master Guides, PLA, PIA, & ALA (Tomorrow, Saturday, November 21 @ Manhattan Seventh-day Adventist Church): It will be the largest Graduation/Investiture in the history of the Greater New York Conference with 140 Graduates/Investees. The Act of Graduation/Investiture will be done by 5 Greater New York Conference Youth Directors.

I had a walk through last night with Pastor Victor Dyman, Senior Pastor of the Manhattan Church and thanked him and asked him to thank his congregation for their hospitality and love shown to the Department of Adventist Youth Ministries in Greater New York. The Manhattan Church is a beautiful structure, a landmark in the City of New York, and it is in great shape, with all its facilities, and the overflow room with big screen, waiting for us tomorrow. Let’s take good care of it. If you would like to know more about the history of this landmark, please check this link: http://www.nycago.org/Organs/NYC/html/ManhattanSDA.html. Public transportation to the Manhattan Church is excellent and recommended for tomorrow. However, for those driving, Pastor Dyman has mentioned the Apple Parking Lot, which is very close to the church; it is located on 332 West 11th Street.

Sabbath School will begin at 9:30 AM, and the Consecration Service will continue at 11:15 AM. The Investiture & Graduation Service will begin at 4:00 PM. Please come early if you would like to find a seat. The first 1,000 people to show up will receive 1 key chain; the key chains will be given out starting at 9:00 AM, for as long as they last. Young Adults, Teens, Adventist Youth Leaders (with the AY Jacket), Master Guides, Pathfinders, and Adventurers in Class A Uniform, church members and friends of the church are all invited to attend this event, in which leadership and service will be highlighted.

Highlights of the Day

Our speaker for the Consecration Service will be Pastor Ernest Castillo, Vice-President of the North American Division of Seventh-day Adventists which include the United States, Canada, & Bermuda. He is a former Youth Director and a long time church leader here in North America.

Our former Greater New York Conference Youth Directors will be honored on this day; we are expecting the presence of Pastors Lloyd Scharffenberg, Dan Pabon, Dionisio Olivo, and Ismael Perez Maisonet. Pastor Willie Oliver will not be able to be with us due to scheduling conflict but will also be honored at this time. He has sent us a message which will be read during the ceremony.

For the first time in our Conference we will have an Investiture for Master Guides pursuing the Adventurer Leadership Award. The curriculum for this program has been written here by a Team of our Coordinators and Instructors. During our Investiture a small pioneer class will be invested with the Adventurer Leadership Award. Next year the program will be opened to Master Guides, who have been invested for two years or more.

There will about 140 Master Guides, PLA (Pathfinder Leadership Award), PIA (Pathfinder Instructor Award), ALA (Adventurer Leadership Award), AYLC (Adventist Youth Leadership Certification, and AYES Corps (Adventist Youth Emergency Services Corps (AYES Corps) candidates that after a year of training and hard work will be receiving their diplomas, uniforms, and insignias which only give evidence that they are ready to serve.

We are also requesting that anyone coming for the entire day brings a sack lunch (sandwiches, fruits, etc; please, nothing which needs to be warmed). Food will not be provided, but there will be space available to eat, outside of the sanctuary. The Manhattan Seventh-day Adventist Church is located at: 232 W 11th St., Manhattan, NY 10014.

2. Traveling Bible Arrives in the Bronx Tonight (Tonight, Friday, November 20 @ 7:30 PM in the University Seventh-day Adventist Church): Our Greater New York Conference Traveling Bible will arrive in the Bronx tonight, with the only purpose to remind our youth, young adults, children, and adults that we are the people of the Book and must read, practice, and follow the Bible, which is God’s Book for us. A beautiful Bible reception ceremony will take place at the University Church; all the Bronx Churches are invited.
